Second gig for us in two days, this time in a loft party in
the heart of old Montréal, right by the water and Place Jacques Cartier.
The Load IN:
1:00 PM: A warm summer sun is up the sky and there are people everywhere, tourists, bikes, skateboards horses and tons of traffic. Cars are double-parked, the street is crowded. We have to hurry up and empty the cars before we get parking tickets or the cops tell us to move.
Once we get to the door on the street, we are told that the elevator is broken... and its 58 steps to get to the fourth floor (note: the ceilings of each floor are around 15ft so its more like 8 floors!) We have a complete drum kit, guitars, pedal board, Marshall amp, console, 5 heavy road cases, 3 mic stands, A industrial strength computer in a bullet proof case (it must weigh at least 50 lbs!), samplers, monitors, drum rugs and banner, and a box with the t-shirts and vinyl records (another 50 lbs!).

2:00 PM: Twelve
trips later, we are soaking wet, and totally out of breath, so we decide to chill and have a couple of well deserved drinks. Load in = DONE!
The Load OUT:
12:30 AM: After a killer load in, a good show and a couple more drinks, we decide we're ready to get the gear back to our cars.
1:30 AM: The same 12 loads later (in the opposite direction), the cars are packed up, and we are ready to go back home and rest. As I turned on the engine of the car, Stairway to Heaven is playing on the radio. No Thank you! We had enough with any kind of "Stairway" after this gig.
