1624 Steps higher
Friday, May 19th
Second gig for us in two days, this time in a loft party in
the heart of old Montréal, right by the water and Place Jacques Cartier.
The Load IN:
1:00 PM: A warm summer sun is up the sky and there are people everywhere, tourists, bikes, skateboards horses and tons of traffic. Cars are double-parked, the street is crowded. We have to hurry up and empty the cars before we get parking tickets or the cops tell us to move.
Once we get to the door on the street, we are told that the elevator is broken... and its 58 steps to get to the fourth floor (note: the ceilings of each floor are around 15ft so its more like 8 floors!) We have a complete drum kit, guitars, pedal board, Marshall amp, console, 5 heavy road cases, 3 mic stands, A industrial strength computer in a bullet proof case (it must weigh at least 50 lbs!), samplers, monitors, drum rugs and banner, and a box with the t-shirts and vinyl records (another 50 lbs!).

2:00 PM: Twelve
trips later, we are soaking wet, and totally out of breath, so we decide to chill and have a couple of well deserved drinks. Load in = DONE!
The Load OUT:
12:30 AM: After a killer load in, a good show and a couple more drinks, we decide we're ready to get the gear back to our cars.
1:30 AM: The same 12 loads later (in the opposite direction), the cars are packed up, and we are ready to go back home and rest. As I turned on the engine of the car, Stairway to Heaven is playing on the radio. No Thank you! We had enough with any kind of "Stairway" after this gig.

The test press story
Last night we received the test press for Dance it, Dance all. One hell of a night!
8 pm - Received a call from our manager Udo saying the test presses are ready and we have to go pick them up.
9:00 - On our way to DJ Loco Fern's place, who brought the records home from work with him.
9:30 - We have the test presses in our hands!
9:33 - We're on our way to Simon's place to listen and make sure everything's ok.
9:45 - Arrived at Simon's, plugged in the turntable.... and f*cck! the head-shell is broken!
9:55 - Run like madmen to a convenience store that closes in 5 min to get some Krazy glue and fit it.
9:59 - We have glue!
10:05 - Try to repair the head-shell and it just doesn't work.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The guy at the vinyl factory needs our approval tonight if we are to have them ready for the launch party next Thursday.
10:10 - Call back Udo in panic. F*cck, we need to find a place to listen to the record asap!
10:15 - Udo calls back : " Ok guys! I just reached Alain Vinet and he's expecting you"
10:20 - On our way to listen to the test press at a Cirque Du Soleil friends place with a working turntable.
10:30 - Pit stop to grab a 6 pack of "refreshments' to re-hydrate - aka beer.
10:45 - Finally listening to the test press. First impression : Sounds awesome!
11:45 - Confirmed pressing to the vinyl factory. Approved ! :oD

The Easton Ellises’ "crowdfunding" campaign successful!
For immediate release
Montreal, May 10, 2012
On April 1 of this year, The Easton Ellises launched a 30 day internet fundraising campaign- aka "crowdfunding". Thanks to their engaged fan base they managed to raise 105% of the money needed for the production of t-shirts, CDs and vinyl records.
60 days ago, they put all the “Dance it, Dance all” parts (everything you need to make a remix) up on the web hoping to find some artists willing to remix it. Over thirty remixers from all around the globe have answered the call – their remixes reflect the musical diversity of all these different cultures.
The best six remixes are going to be on pressed on the vinyl record, which will highlight the release of the 10th single from the band. The Easton Ellises are currently preparing for the official Dance it Dance all launch party which will take place on May 17th in an undisclosed location on Montreal's infamous plateau. Mission accomplie!

Bunker session with Mat Joly
There are certain songs that take much more time to finish than others;
“Open up your heart” is one of them. Like letting a good wine age...some things take a little while to be at their best.
We composed an instrumental version of “Open Up” almost 2 years, and I never really found the vocal line I found good enough. After trying a couple times with no success, we decided to put it aside and retry
another time.
Meanwhile, in the summer of 2011, we crossed paths up with an old friend of ours Mat Joly at a club in Montreal and we caught up and talked music for hours. Mat told us that his band Mobile was no more, and that he had chosen to go solo. We also talked about doing a collaboration some day...
A couple months later, while looking for something else, we fell on the instrumental version of "Open Up Your Heart"... Simon and I shared the same
though: “Could this be the one for Mat?” The next day we sent it to see
if the song would inspire something in him. It did!
Mat came up with a powerful vocal melody and great lyrics . We have the
same desire…write something epic.
Here are a few pictures of the latest session taken by Mat's photographer Louis Turmel at Studio "le Bunker"!

Fan Funding : The ticking clock
With only 7 days left on the clock, this week is crucial. We have collected $2700 so far but still need a little more to cover the costs of making 300 vinyl records. iPod on shuffle, cold beers in the fridge, tonight we are internet squeegee-ing!
One more remix in the box today ! This time from UK. Its crazy how good the music we receive is. Quality! More than two dozen so far. We have all ready received stuff from South Africa, Turkey, Israel, UK, USA, Mexico, Ecuador even Iran! This is proof that music has no borders! Henry says it better...

What a nice way to start the day ! We received this reply from Red Bull Records this morning. It really gave us wings !
Would be really cool to be associated with Red Bull. They sponsor some pretty kick-ass stuff.
Got my fingers crossed, rabbit`s foot and wishbones in my pockets, horseshoes hung over my door and a four leaf clover underneath my pillow. That`s should be enough to bring us luck !

Fan Funding : 2e semaine
Le premier "executive producer" de Dance it, Dance all,
rendre à notre but. Voyons ce que le
futur nous apportera!

Dance it, Dance all : MOTEL Costes Mix

Le groupe The Easton Ellises lance son single “Dance it Dance all”

The Campaign Is Launched
Finally, after weeks and weeks of preparation work, countless cups of coffee and
sleepless nights, we're kicking off our fan funding campaign today! Our goal is to
collect enough money to finance the costs of producing a 12 inch vinyl record for Dance it, Dance all.
The Dance it, Dance all stems (all the parts you need to make a remix) are free and available online here. You have until April 15th to submit you version if you want to have a chance of making the record. The best remixes will be pressed on wax!
We created a soundcloud group where you can submit your works for consideration.
Go CRAZY!
